Life’s an experiment. We live to learn stuff and take risks, rather than failing, we end up learning from it and chasing the next target with victory as an aim. That’s what we are doing with AptoRobos. Experiments on the web3 space. Bitcoin Robos are an experiment, but it became a successful one. Let me tell you how it started, and how we helped our community have a Bitcoin Ordinal inscription for themselves.
Bitcoin Ordinals are a bit confusing (a lot more if Crypto and NFTs itself are confusing for you) and when I learned how to do this, thanks to one of the Robo community members Monu, I was sure that this is something people would want to get into, but are not trying it only because Bitcoin inscriptions aren’t like the usual NFT mint. I took his help for inscribing the 1/1 Bumblebee Robo on Bitcoin Blockchain and then realized that this is what AptoRobos was made for. To help everyone around, to involve them in the learning and experimenting process. Monu, I, and our mods thought of experimenting with this to see how many people actually are interested, and we loved to see that a bunch of Robo holders, not even knowing how much they have to invest, showed their interest.
The cost of Bitcoin inscriptions hugely depends on two factors – the size of the images (file size), and the speed of transactions. While the second one can be handled manually by us as there was never a need to hurry, for the art, another community member who had helped AptoRobos with a few stickers in the Discord server, stepped up to help and make the art, knowing that pixel arts are the ones that will be best suited due to the file size. It was Marco (Shadowbright) who helped with the entire art, and the best part was that I just had to mention the number of Bitcoin Robo NFTs we wanted, and it was all his own brain at work to design those amazing pixel art designs.
This was the trickiest part, where we weren’t certain how much time it would take, and we had to keep the cost in control because even though this is an experiment, people shouldn’t feel like they are paying a lot for nothing. Still, having a permanent inscription for yourself on the chain that has led the entire Cryptocurrency narrative is not one to miss, when you are getting it for almost nothing. In fact, our logic was that we have to get these guys into the sub-1 million inscriptions, and so we started the inscriptions by using our own funds as this wasn’t a profit-making effort from us, so we would be charging from the interested buyers later, but do the inscriptions first. It took a few days but we finally were able to inscribe all 77 Bitcoin Robos and then, did the listing part with marketplaces like MagicEden, Ordinals Wallet, and Ordswap. Each of these was a new learning, as things are really different when it comes to Bitcoin Ordinals.
Another tricky part as we wanted to keep it completely fair and random, and knew that some might not like the Robos they get (though each of them is wonderful), so we also kept the option for people to reach out to us and exchange the Bitcoin Robos if they wanted one from the ones we had in the treasury. It was all about making people realize what they have, and what it could lead to if there’s a future for Bitcoin Ordinals. What happens later is secondary, but being a part of something and having the feeling that early gives you some good adrenaline.
I didn’t even think about anything really special or different for the Bitcoin Robo holders but there will surely be something rewarding in the long term for those who always showed their interest and support in the initiatives or experiments we did or are planning on doing. The Bitcoin Robo holders will surely have an added weight in terms of entries for any giveaways we do within the server, and since it is a limited 77 in the count, there’s that eliteness with the role we give to the holders.
